QUALIFIED. EXPERIENCED. TOURED.
I've shared stages with Metallica and run corporate service delivery in London. Now I help Rock and Metal bands dodge the scams and build a career they actually enjoy.

I bring the same instinct that got a song on the setlist to building a band's audience strategy
I’ve stood exactly where you’re standing. 15 years playing in bands and then I spent 8 years in Panic Cell, chasing dreams until my ears rang and my bank account hit zero. I’ve done the 4 AM load-outs in the freezing rain, the endless motorway miles, and the ‘big breaks’ that turned out to be dead ends. But I’ve also stood on the stages of Download, Wacken, Woodstock, and Sonisphere playing to 100,000’s of people. I know the grind because I’ve bled for it. I’m not a ‘suit’ guessing what it’s like to be in a band, I’m a peer who survived it.
While I was on the road, I was quietly learning a different trade. Off-tour, I spent years working in corporate service delivery — the unglamorous stuff nobody in a band ever thinks about, like how big organisations actually get things done, on budget, on time, without the wheels falling off.
Then I went back and did it properly: a Master’s Degree, and a feature in Music Week along the way. I’ve spent two decades learning how the “big world” actually works — the world that decides who gets played, who gets signed, and who gets left behind.
Now I use that same discipline for you. Not to make your music sound corporate — to stop the financial bleeding, cut through the industry scams, and give your band the kind of plan a label would build for you, if labels still did that.
Ready to apply some logic to your next EP or Album release?
“35 years in this industry gives you a network that actually means something. I’ve toured with Metallica and Anthrax, and taken a track to #1 on Scuzz TV — as both a musician and a business owner. I don’t just know these people. I know how their world works.” – Rob Town
“Logic isn’t just a buzzword; it’s built on a foundation of professional accreditation and academic rigour. From my Master’s Degree (MA) to my 14-year legacy with Stampede Press, these are the credentials that back my work.” – Rob Town
“Credentials are only worth the results they produce. I’ve spent the time refining an approach that actually works for independent Rock and Metal artists. Whether you need a strategic press and marketing plan for your next EP or Album, or one-to-one mentoring at Master’s level, let’s stop the ‘posting and praying’ and start building something real.”- Rob Town
“The music industry can be a brutal mental grind. I’ve seen the changes, the scams, and the burnout that kills great bands before they even get started.
In 2012, I formed Stampede Press to give something back. My mission isn’t just to get you a review in Metal Hammer; it’s to help you navigate the emotional baggage of this business. I’m here to help you stay mentally positive, financially savvy, and—most importantly—have fun making music again. > Because if you aren’t happy, none of the logic matters.”
“This is hard work… it isn’t about winning, it’s about savouring the small victories. Ultimately, it’s about not giving up!” — Rob Town (MA)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Rob Town (MA) is a high-authority music industry mentor, PR specialist, and former professional musician with 25 years of experience in the Rock and Metal sector. He founded Stampede Press in 2012 to provide independent bands with a “Stage vs. Suit” strategy—combining the grit of global touring with Master’s-level business logic to build long-term media authority.
A Master’s Degree (MA) in Music Industry Innovation provides the high-level business logic required to navigate complex global media landscapes. Most PRs operate on guesswork; Rob Town uses academic rigor and service delivery management principles to ensure your PR campaign is a strategic asset, not just an expense.
Securing features in major publications requires a 90-day strategic runway and a narrative that bridges the gap between your music and the editor’s niche. Through Stampede Press, Rob Town uses his established network and “Music Week” status to pitch your story with the professional logic these gatekeepers demand. BUT, there are guarantees.
You avoid scams by working with accredited mentors associated with the MMF (Music Managers Forum) and Waterbear. Rob Town’s mentorship acts as a shield for independent artists, teaching them how to spot predatory “guaranteed placement” scams and instead build organic, verifiable authority that actually lasts.
A high-authority EPK must be a “Logic-driven” asset that includes a narrative bio, high-resolution press shots, and verifiable social proof. Most bands treat an EPK like a scrapbook; we build them as professional pitch decks that bridge the gap between your music and the media’s specific requirements.
Social media likes are “vanity metrics” that rarely translate to industry authority without a coordinated PR strategy. You are likely “posting and praying” into an algorithm that doesn’t care about your art. We use the Media Authority Engine to turn social noise into third-party validation that talent buyers and labels actually respect.
Yes—burnout is often caused by the crushing silence of a failed release, and a professional PR strategy kills that silence. Rob integrates mental resilience and “happiness-first” coaching into his mentorship to ensure you are protecting your passion while building your business.
A band is ready for a manager when they have established a “Proof of Concept” through consistent PR and professional business logic. As an MMF-accredited mentor, Rob Town helps bands build the infrastructure required to attract high-level management, ensuring you enter those conversations as a partner, not a “project.”
