Courtesans and Stampede were introduced to each other by one of our mutual friends in the media. After an initial consultation on the telephone with their management, we were hired at the tail end of 2016 to service the band's new EP 'Better Safe Than Sober'.
Courtesans had already built up a loyal following and received coverage from the press/media for their previous release, the album '1917' which was released in 2014. With the new EP already available via a Pledge Music campaign, and our commitment to get 'tastemakers' onboard with 'Better Safe Than Sober', Stampede set to work essentially relaunching the EP as a brand new release.
We knew we were in a strong position, the Courtesans are an exceptional talent and stand out from the crowd. However, given that the EP was made available the previous summer, we had a challenge on our hands, but were confident influential music tastemakers would embrace the band.
Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long. Kerrang! Magazine loved the Courtesans and a series of exceptional coverage spots occured; including a music video premiere for the track 'Mesmerise', an "On the office stereo" feature spot (alongside Creeper, Mastodon, Amy Lee - Evanescence - and Sikth), a KKKK EP review ("This is music that keeps you guessing"), plus Courtesans were featured as one of the "Best New Bands From Your Town To Believe In!"
Reknowned music journalist Dom Lawson (The Guardian, Metal Hammer, Classic Rock) quoted, "Finally, an alternative rock band you can believe in. Courtesans rule" , and Team Rock featured the band, stating “Inventively dark… Courtesans are a band on the up."
Courtesans EP 'Better Safe Than Sober' went on to receive extensive positive reviews with various webzines worldwide, praising the band for their different approach and great songs. It wasn't long before the Courtesans were noticed more and more by music industry bodies, resulting in show and festival bookings including Bloodstock Open Air and Amplified Festival.
With the group continuing to build their following and working on new material for their next release, Courtesans impact in the music industry will only be felt more and more.
